Senior Bowl – Day Two (North)

Possibly the best day of practice is the second day. There are entirely too many people on the field now at practice, so the only way to watch is from the stands with the rest of the fans.

This report has been on hold and wasn’t even going to be posted since the event is limiting the media to a 200 foot distance. So we are basically 100 feet away from practice having a restraining order being placed on the media. We were still able to get some quality pictures with my camera man sneaking on the opposite side of the stands to get some off limits shots.

I GET NO RESPECT!

DT Davon Hamilton, Ohio State – This guy is literally getting little to no respect out here. He is dominating his reps, slapping offensive linemen in the chops and shocking them back in their stances. Hamilton frees himself up from offensive linemen so well, it’s insane how consistent he is with his man hands ripping people’s faces off, creating spaces and attacking the ball upfield. Hamilton is a savage! Do not challenge him, he will mess you up.

LIKED WHAT I SAW

Edge Bradley Annae, Utah – The kid had some quality reps out there. He beat Josh Jones early one on one and shows off such a high motor and temperament of play. There’s a internal fire that burns in this guy and it really comes out when he rushes the passer. He’s so effective with his hands, getting into a lineman’s body, freeing himself up and closing on the football. He’s already a technician and with the pro coaching he’s about to receiver, there’s a lot to like about this

TE Adam Trautman, Dayton – The Flyers’ tight end just looks smooth out there running his routes and he’s a natural catching passes. He’s a hands catcher with excellent balance and this event has been a terrific opportunity to show why he belongs, because he’s a difficult cover for any linebacker or safety. Trautman has also gotten after it in blocking drills and not that he has been dominating but there’s some transitional athleticism to be gleaned from his work here. No question that there’s a Dallas Goedert vibe surrounding Mr Trautman in Mobile.

RB Joshua Kelley, UCLA – It is always difficult to make a difference at these practices as a runningback but Kelley looked has had a solid couple of days. The young man, fared well in blocking drills. He excelled in the nine on seven portion, flashed his acceleration and saw the opening and sliced up field for a big run. He’s not a big back but he brings a lot of skills to the table and showed clearly that he belongs among the nation’s best.

IMPRESSIVE

TE Brad Hopkins, Purdue – There’s no questioning what he’s going to be at the next level and that’s a receiver in a tight ends’ skin but there’s nothing wrong with that. There’s still plenty of opportunities for a guy with that skill set. Hopkins will not bring a lot in the running game but he is a functional blocker that understands play flow and angles. He’s just a naturally gifted receiver that moves so easy out there, he adjusts to the ball quickly and he has plus ball skills. As a receiving threat, Hopkins is intriguing and he apparently has some test numbers that could turn heads in March.
