With the 2018 NFL Draft in the books, it is time to turn the page and gear up for our 2019 Draft Season coverage with a brand new 2019 NFL Mock Draft!
While last year’s group of pass rushers was thin, this year’s class is potentially one of the deepest in years with a consensus Top-3 players that are certain to kick off everybody’s mock draft for the foreseeable future.
I have the entire starting defensive line for the Clemson Tigers being drafted on day one and twelve total defensive linemen getting drafted in the first round.
2019 looks to be a down quarterback year but I have a wildcard player as the first one off the board and wide receiver appears to be back on the upswing with the potential of an excellent group of underclassmen at the position that will factor into three wide outs drafted on day one.
MOCK DRAFT DISCLAIMER: The following picks are not how I have these players ranked and it is not exactly who I would pick some cases. A good mock draft should be the most accurate prediction of how NFL GMs/Teams will be thinking and which players they will be targeting when day one is here.

Ed Oliver Houston Defensive Tackle | Junior | Height: 6’3″ | Weight: 290 |
Round 1 [ Pick #1 ] New York Jets |
[ TEAM NEEDS: Edge Rusher, Offensive Tackle, Runningback, Cornerback ]
Although this selection might not address one of the larger needs, Oliver is a generational player that will instantly give a defense a new accent piece and weapon that the opposition has to deal with as a priority. Oliver compares favorably to an Aaron Donald type of tone setter, changing the destiny of the team that selects him. |
Nick Bosa Ohio State Defensive End | Junior | Height: 6’4″ | Weight: 263 |
Round 1 [ Pick #2 ] Cleveland Browns |
[ TEAM NEEDS: Offensive Tackle, Defensive Tackle, Safety, Defensive End ]
Possibly the best pass rusher in this class, Nick Bosa has potentially even more upside than his older brother Joey. The need might not necessarily be there for the Browns but Bosa is the type of rare talent that overrides scheme or need or logic, you just find a jersey and helmet for this kid and turn him loose on the rest of the league. |
Rashan Gary Michigan Defensive End | Junior | Height: 6’5″ | Weight: 281 |
Round 1 [ Pick #3 ] Oakland Raiders |
[ TEAM NEEDS: Linebacker, Defensive Tackle, Tight End, Cornerback ]
Gary was a highly touted prep prospect that has coaches in Ann Arbor raving about his potential. He should test exceedingly well, he has upside through the roof, excellent base strength and he profiles as a pass rushing threat from the five technique for a team that runs an odd front but he is versatile enough to fit in with any scheme because he’s such a rare athlete. |
KJ Costello Stanford Quarterback | Junior | Height: 6’5″ | Weight: 216 |
Round 1 [ Pick #4 ] Miami Dolphins |
[ TEAM NEEDS: Quarterback, Defensive Tackle, Cornerback, Offensive Guard ]
Potentially a surprise to some, Costello has David Shaw’s system mastered after just his first full season. Coaches have praised his aptitude and attitude. He has prototype size, deceptive speed and the arm strength needed to make all the throws. The Dolphins will be looking at the reality of moving on from Ryan Tannehill directly in the face after this season. |
Clelin Ferrell Clemson Defensive End | rs Junior | Height: 6’5″ | Weight: 260 |
Round 1 [ Pick #5 ] Arizona Cardinals |
[ TEAM NEEDS: Cornerback, Defensive End, Tight End, Linebacker ]
The Cardinals just drafted the leader of their offense, they have the weapons to score but to pair Chandler Jones up with Clelin Ferrell as a pass rushing tandem is too temping to pass up. The Clemson product has the length, bend and first step to be an all pro in the right scheme. Arizona’s defense could be on par with the rest of the division if they add Ferrell. |
Andraez Williams LSU Cornerback | rs Sophomore | Height: 6’2″ | Weight: 182 |
Round 1 [ Pick #6 ] Tampa Bay Buccaneers |
[ TEAM NEEDS: Safety, Offensive Tackle, Wide Receiver, Center ]
Tampa’s need at safety and along the offensive line might be greater, but Greedy Williams has a chance to develop into a great perimeter shutdown corner and that could give the Buccaneers a real answer at the position for years. Williams has a rare combination of size and speed and he comes from a program that consistently produces quality defensive backs. |
Greg Little Ole Miss Offensive Tackle | Junior | Height: 6’6″ | Weight: 325 |
Round 1 [ Pick #7 ] Cincinnati Bengals |
[ TEAM NEEDS: Quarterback, Offensive Guard, Defensive Tackle, Offensive Tackle ]
It’s not like the Bengals haven’t invested in the offensive line and truth be told, this team boasts one of the deeper rosters in the league that is littered with talent but this offense hasn’t been the same since Andrew Whitworth left town. Little profiles as a potential franchise tackle with the plus athleticism and terrific range he has at his disposal. |
Chauncey Gardner Florida Cornerback | Junior | Height: 6’0″ | Weight: 207 |
Round 1 [ Pick #8 ] Washington Redskins |
[ TEAM NEEDS: Quarterback, Cornerback, Offensive Guard, Edge Rusher ]
The Redskins could use a safety as well as a cornerback and that’s exactly where Chauncey Garner Jr fits in. Most might have him projected as a center fielder type safety but it’s our contention that he should be tried at corner first. Either way, Gardner could make a big impact as a corner for Washington and worst case he slides over to free safety. |
Jonah Williams Alabama Offensive Tackle | Junior | Height: 6’5″ | Weight: 301 |
Round 1 [ Pick #9 ] Chicago Bears |
[ TEAM NEEDS: Edge Rusher, Offensive Tackle, Cornerback, Nose Tackle ]
The Bears offense is building around Mitchell Trubisky and getting a technically refined pass protector would go a long way in keeping the young signal caller upright for the entirety of the season. Williams has been in the starting lineup for the Crimson Tide since the day he set foot on campus and he profiles as a starting left tackle at the next level. |
Wide Receiver | Junior | Height: 6’1″ | Weight: 225 |
Round 1 [ Pick #10 ] Buffalo Bills |
[ TEAM NEEDS: Wide Receiver, Defensive End, Offensive Tackle, Safety ]
The Bills need a physical go-to option that can take plays the distance after the catch. AJ Brown fits that bill with a bulked up physique at 225 pounds, he has excellent ball skills and possesses runningback moves with the ball in his hands. Brown has the potential to develop into a number one wide out regardless of where he lands in the draft. |
Dexter Lawrence Clemson Defensive Tackle | Junior | Height: 6’4″ | Weight: 340 |
Round 1 [ Pick #11 ] New York Giants |
[ TEAM NEEDS: Quarterback, Defensive Tackle, Cornerback, Edge Rusher ]
The Giants will be in year two of their defensive change but their front seven is still likely going to need more bodies and if there’s a player on Clemson’s front seven that has more raw power than the others, it’s Dexter Lawrence. The kid has started for one of the best defenses in the nation since day one of his college tenure and will be a force for the team that takes him. |
David Edwards Wisconsin Offensive Tackle | rs Junior | Height: 6’7″ | Weight: 319 |
Round 1 [ Pick #12 ] Indianapolis Colts |
[ TEAM NEEDS: Cornerback, Defensive Tackle, Runningback, Offensive Tackle ]
David Edwards might be more of a right tackle but at 6’7″ 319 pounds, he is the prototype as a physical run blocking tackle. Edwards has long arms, big strong hands and a thick build. When he lays hands on a defender on run blocking plays, it’s game over because of his strength and natural power. This pick would give Indy FOUR 1st rounders along the offensive line. |
Christian Wilkins Clemson Defensive Tackle | Senior | Height: 6’4″ | Weight: 300 |
Round 1 [ Pick #13 ] Denver Broncos |
[ TEAM NEEDS: Quarterback, Cornerback, Defensive Tackle, Offensive Guard ]
Regardless of where Bradley Chubb lines up, the Broncos need more building blocks up front with both Derek Wolfe and Adam Gotsis 2020 free agents. Domata Peko is just a one year rental, so Wilkins makes a lot of sense with his pass rushing ability and scheme versatility. He really can line up anywhere and ideally fits as a future five technique with his deadly speed. |
Austin Bryant Clemson Defensive End | Senior | Height: 6’5″ | Weight: 265 |
Round 1 [ Pick #14 ] Detroit Lions |
[ TEAM NEEDS: Defensive End, Tight End, Cornerback, Linebacker ]
Austin Bryant is an athletic specimen, he has excellent power rushing moves and he possesses rare ball skills for a defensive lineman. The Lions choice to ignore pass rusher in the 2018 NFL Draft will likely come back to bite them, forcing the issue here with a freakish type of edge player from a tremendous defensive program that continues to feed the league with talent. |
Raekwon Davis Alabama Defensive Tackle | Junior | Height: 6’7″ | Weight: 308 |
Round 1 [ Pick #15 ] Tennessee Titans |
[ TEAM NEEDS: Defensive Line, Offensive Guard, Wide Receiver, Cornerback ]
The Titans have edge rushers and they’ve invested in their secondary but they need more size, more physicality and more nasty in the middle to make this defense work. Raekwon Davis brings the nasty, he has a long frame, he disrupts plays and really took off at the end of 2017. As an interior lineman, he’s just scratching the surface of what he can be. Upside pick here. |
Trey Adams Washington Offensive Tackle | Senior | Height: 6’8″ | Weight: 331 |
Round 1 [ Pick #16 ] Seattle Seahawks |
[ TEAM NEEDS: Offensive Line, Cornerback, Defensive Tackle, Wide Receiver ]
Were it not for a season ending (right) knee injury, Adams would have likely been the second or third tackle off the board in the 2018 NFL Draft but he returns to a very good team and should enjoy a fine senior campaign on his way to being a day one pick. He has prototype length and outstanding power to make an impact in the running game. His absence was felt by the Huskies last season. |
Zach Allen Boston College Defensive End | Senior | Height: 6’5″ | Weight: 285 |
Round 1 [ Pick #17 ] Carolina Panthers |
[ TEAM NEEDS: Defensive End, Offensive Guard, Runningback, Quarterback ]
The Panthers need more of a pass rushing presence outside of Kawaan Short, their defensive end position needs a real shot in the arm and they’ve had success taking players from this same program in Chestnut Hill. Allen is an outstanding run defender, a real over achiever and a tough pass rusher to block with the potential to play all three downs. |
DeAndre Baker Georgia Cornerback | Senior | Height: 5’11” | Weight: 180 |
Round 1 [ Pick #18 ] Kansas City Chiefs |
[ TEAM NEEDS: Edge Rusher, Cornerback, Offensive Guard, Safety ]
The Chiefs’ defense is flat out slow and that’s going to be a problem no matter how many points Pat Mahomes manages to score. They need a difference making pass rusher and more speed at corner. Baker could have been a day two pick in last year’s draft but we say he returns to a national championship contender and elevates his stock into round one. |
David Sills V West Virginia Wide Receiver | Senior | Height: 6’4″ | Weight: 204 |
Round 1 [ Pick #19 ] Dallas Cowboys |
[ TEAM NEEDS: Wide Receiver, Safety, Defensive Tackle, Cornerback ]
The Cowboys have waited long enough to get Dak Prescott’s go to guy, there’s some quality options available and they’ll likely go with the guy that led the nation in receiving touchdowns in 2017. David Sills V was a highly touted quarterback prospect that switched to wide out just a few years ago and caught 18 touchdowns in his first full year at the position. |
N’Keal Harry Arizona State Wide Receiver | Junior | Height: 6’4″ | Weight: 213 |
Round 1 [ Pick #20 ] San Francisco 49ers |
[ TEAM NEEDS: Wide Receiver, Defensive Tackle, Cornerback, Runningback ]
Harry is a big bodied jump ball specialist with prototype size and height. He has exceptional ball skills, excellent coordination and he’s such a physical runner after the catch that his offensive coordinator calls him “Secretariat”. Harry is a Brandon Marshall type, hard to take down once the ball is in his hands and highly competitive at the catch point. |
Cameron Smith USC Linebacker | Junior | Height: 6’2″ | Weight: 250 |
Round 1 [ Pick #21 ] Los Angeles Chargers |
[ TEAM NEEDS: Linebacker, Defensive Tackle, Quarterback, Offensive Tackle ]
The Chargers need a leader in the middle with speed and smarts like four year starter and team captain Cameron Smith, Sam Darnold’s former roommate. Smith is a coach on the field, he lines the defense up and has a real nose for the football. The Trojan would be an instant fan favorite in Los Angeles, much like another USC product turned Charger in the late Junior Seau. |
Beau Benzschawel Wisconsin Offensive Guard | rs Senior | Height: 6’6″ | Weight: 322 |
Round 1 [ Pick #22 ] Atlanta Falcons |
[ TEAM NEEDS: Offensive Guard, Safety, Linebacker, Tight End ]
The Falcons need to shore up the interior of their offensive line and adding a four year starter like Beau Benzschawel would do a lot in solidifying the front five, as well as protecting one of the highest paid players in the league (Matt Ryan). Benzschawel is an overpowering run blocker with a lot of explosion out of his stance and granite hands that shock defenders. |
Shaq Quarterman Miami [FL] Linebacker | Junior | Height: 6’1″ | Weight: 240 |
Round 1 [ Pick #23 ] Baltimore Ravens |
[ TEAM NEEDS: Linebacker, Center, Wide Receiver, Runningback ]
Shaquille Quarterman has been the starting mike linebacker for the Hurricanes since his true freshman season, he is all conference two years running and he’s also very effective as a blitzer. His instincts, understanding of play flow and the ability mirror tight ends in coverage make him a valuable player in today’s pass heavy league. |
Anfernee Jennings Alabama Edge | rs Junior | Height: 6’3″ | Weight: 262 |
Round 1 [ Pick #24 ] Green Bay Packers* (via Saints) |
[ TEAM NEEDS: Defensive Tackle, Tight End, Offensive Guard, Quarterback ]
The Packers acquired this pick in the Marcus Davenport trade and they’ll take advantage of a much deeper pass rushing class to get a player that fits their odd front in Anfernee Jennings. The Crimson Tide Edge rusher was a force towards the end of the 2017 season and into the playoffs for Alabama but he also has the potential to improve his draft stock as a junior. |
Justin Herbert Oregon Quarterback | Junior | Height: 6’6″ | Weight: 231 |
Round 1 [ Pick #25 ] Jacksonville Jaguars |
[ TEAM NEEDS: Quarterback, Tight End, Wide Receiver, Cornerback ]
The Jaguars have to be honest with themselves and finally address the quarterback position but truth be told, the rest of their roster is in good shape outside of wide receiver/tight end and adding a quarterback is the way to go at this point in the round. Herbert might be one of the better late day one options in what appears to be a weak QB class. |
Bryce Love Stanford Runningback | Senior | Height: 5’10” | Weight: 196 |
Round 1 [ Pick #26 ] Houston Texans |
[ TEAM NEEDS: Offensive Tackle, Cornerback, Defensive End, Quarterback ]
Love could have easily been a Top-50 selection in the 2018 NFL Draft but he opted to return to a strong Stanford team and make a run in the college football playoffs. The Texans offense has speed and explosiveness at receiver but adding a dynamic runner like Bryce Love would give them an accent piece that could take their offense to a whole new level. |
Jaylon Ferguson Louisiana Tech Defensive End | Senior | Height: 6’5″ | Weight: 269 |
Round 1 [ Pick #27 ] Los Angeles Rams |
[ TEAM NEEDS: Edge Rusher, Safety, Offensive Tackle, Quarterback ]
The Rams have their corners in place and one of the most intimidating front lines with Suh and Aaron Donald but they need a real presence off the edge in Wade Phillips’ defense. Ferguson could provide an impact with his length and power but he also presents a nice fit with his experience rushing from two and three point stances during his collegiate career. |
Alaric Jackson Iowa Offensive Tackle | rSophomore | Height: 6’7″ | Weight: 320 |
Round 1 [ Pick #28 ] Minnesota Vikings |
[ TEAM NEEDS: Offensive Guard, Safety, Tight End, Linebacker ]
Jackson played exceedingly well during his first season at left tackle thanks to his outstanding balance and rare length but he was suspended for the team’s bowl game so he’ll need to stay on the path this season to keep his stock stable. A redshirt sophomore, Jackson could end up playing better than any tackle selected in this draft class. |
Devin Bush Michigan Linebacker | Junior | Height: 5’11” | Weight: 222 |
Round 1 [ Pick #29 ] Philadelphia Eagles |
[ TEAM NEEDS: Defensive Tackle, Linebacker, Safety, Runningback ]
The Eagles have bypassed linebacker in the first round dating back for years and while they have players that know the scheme intimately, they need an athletic upgrade in run support as well as in coverage. Devin Bush led the Wolverines in tackling as a sophomore and flashes the ability to cover runners out of the backfield and tight ends out in space. |
Sutton Smith Northern Illinois Edge | rs Junior | Height: 6’0″ | Weight: 225 |
Round 1 [ Pick #30 ] Pittsburgh Steelers |
[ TEAM NEEDS: Linebacker, Tight End, Cornerback, Offensive Guard ]
The Steelers need more speed at inside linebacker as well as edge rusher and Sutton Smith is the MAC’s version of Von Miller. Smith is an undersized pass rusher built like a runningback, he has rare bend and acceleration off the edge and he times up and anticipates the snap count extremely well. Smith is a real sleeper coming into the 2018 season. |
Mack Wilson Alabama Linebacker | Junior | Height: 6’2″ | Weight: 237 |
Round 1 [ Pick #31 ] Green Bay Packers |
[ TEAM NEEDS: Edge Rusher, Nose Tackle, Tight End, Offensive Tackle ]
If the Packers were any slower on defense, they’d set the league back nine years and two spots that stick out are inside linebacker and edge rusher. Green Bay doesn’t have difference makers at the second level and Mack Wilson would be the type of talent at linebacker they haven’t seen in years. Wilson is poised for a big junior season that should improve his draft stock. |
Joe Jackson Miami [FL] Defensive End | Junior | Height: 6’5″ | Weight: 258 |
Round 1 [ Pick #32 ] New England Patriots |
[ TEAM NEEDS: Linebacker, Tight End, Defensive Tackle, Quarterback ]
Joe Jackson has been an impact player for the Hurricanes since day one of his career in Coral Gables with 7.5 sacks as a true freshman. He is a long rangy pass rusher with excellent base strength, a strong inside swim move and an outstanding motor. Jackson would be an excellent compliment to Trey Flowers for the Patriots’ pass rush going forward. |
