Senior Bowl – Day Three: South

IMG_3676[1]The final practice of the week before the Senior Bowl kicks off on Saturday at 1:30pm and the Jaguars coaching staff will lead the South team for the third consecutive time

IMPRESSIVE

CB Harlan Miller, Southeastern Louisiana – This kid has really started to grow on me with the physical brand of ball he plays and the anticipation he possesses. He was able to intercept a pass today covering Braxton Miller on a very low throw that he scooped off the ground and has really flashed the ball skills necessary to be a difference maker as a lock down corner at the next level. Miller might have been the best kept secret in this draft class but it certainly appears that the secret is out and the NFL pesonel like what they’ve seen.

TE Jerell Adams, South Carolina – Adams has compiled a solid week and really looked quick for a big man out there on day three with some nifty catches over the middle and the adjustments to the ball needed to convert plays. He also showed up in the running game with solid angles and effort. He caught a nice high-pointed pass in end zone drills and made a great leaping grab over the middle during scrimmages. Adams has shown great feet and receiving ability but he’s also shown that he belongs at this All-Star event as well as deserves a spot on an NFL roster.

I LIKE WHAT I SEE

LB Antonio Morrison, Florida – Morrison has played well and he looks to be healthy, which is a big factor for a guy that has had knee issues. The Gator is known as a big time hitter but he actually wowed with his coverage ability today. He showed up in a red zone drill where was able to bat a pass, tip it to himself and return it the other way. Morrison is on the radar for teams in need of a second linebacker to add on the inside of a 3-4 where he could play in the base package and go hit somebody.

PLAY OF THE PRACTICE

WR Paul McRoberts, Southeast Missouri – Paul has enjoyed a terrific week of work but he may have put the cherry on top of the sundae with a beautiful over the shoulder catch that he made an excellent body adjustment just as the ball dropped for a big gainer once the scrimmage work began. He made catches all day and has been a real presence during the week, making a case for himself in a very talented wide receiver group in this draft class.

SHOW ME MORE

QB Jacoby Brissett, North Carolina State – Brissett has the mobility, the length and the arm strength to make it. He throws well on the run and is a chain mover type that could eventually be a starter for a team but his inconsistencies are maddening at times with accuracy and decision making. I’m hoping to see a big game performance from him but with the big number of quarterbacks here at this event, the time allotted will be sparse. Does Brissett have the intangibles and does he have the ability to fine tune his game eliminate the mistakes that haunt him? Only time will tell.
