Senior Bowl: North Practice – Day Three

The last full Senior Bowl practice is said and done for both teams here on the third day. The North squad finalized an excellent week of practices and the coaching staff deserves a ton of credit for running efficient sessions that showed us a lot on the players here in Mobile.

LB Haason Reddick, Temple – Reddick won the day! He excelled in coverage drills, batting down passes and jumping routes. He did a lot of pass rushing as an Owl but he is listed as an inside linebacker here and he has shown the ability to do both outside and inside. He chased down running backs to the edge and appears to have embraced playing any position, as he looked like a natural out in coverage the entire week. I still believe that his best home is as a sam linebacker in an even front but his abilities have shown out this week and he appears to be a scheme transcendent player that can win in a variety of ways.

QB Nathan Peterman, Pittsburgh – Peterman might just be the best quarterback here in Mobile. He has a nice tight release and adequate height, but what separates him from the other quarterbacks here is his ball placement and accuracy. He can put the football right on top of a receiver, he finds the back shoulder with ease and does a great job of placing the ball where only his receiver can make a play on it. The pro style quarterback has enjoyed a standout week and should see his draft stock rise throughout this process as more evaluators get a look at his game.

S Lorenzo Jerome, Saint Francis – The small school product brought it today with some quality coverage drills against 6’4” Michael Roberts, batting passes, recovering space and closing to the football. He is an eraser in the back half, a true ball hawk and a kick return ace. He may be only 5’10½” but he plays like big safety. Jerome is a fit at free safety but could see the field early as a nickel back for a team in their sub packages with his quickness and instincts. Regardless of what position he’s playing in the NFL, Jerome has made it clear this week at the Senior Bowl that he’s a Sunday player.

RB Corey Clement, Wisconsin – Clement had a few solid runs today but also had a decent week. He catches the ball surprisingly well and just knows how to run off of contact and through would be tacklers. Clement excelled in backs versus backers drills with a natural thick base and good exchange of hands countering pass rushers spin moves. Clement is one of the top senior backs in this class and could potentially develop into a team’s go to player in the red zone as well as short yardage with how well he sheds tacklers.

DT Stevie Tu’ikolovatu, USC – This guy is just a tough, stout, short stack of pain. He doesn’t give up ground, he can’t be moved off his spot and he’s got a lot of power to his punched. Tu’ikolovatu does not possess adequate height for the position but he makes up for it with an insanely high motor, as he chased multiple plays down from behind in practice and showed off great effort throughout the week. There’s a lot of “want to” with this player and at 320 pounds he can hold up against the run and a player that you know will sell out for his reps.
