Player Spotlight: DE Lynden Trail, Norfolk State

Lynden-TrailLynden Trail is a game changer with phenomenal speed at 6-7 267 pounds and a high motor style that wreaks havoc on opponents. Trail was a first-team FCS All-American selection as a junior and is a two-time All-MEAC first-team player. He had 95 total tackles, 12.5 tackles for loss and 8.5 sacks in 2013.

The former Florida Gator finished the 2014 season with 91 total tackles, 11.5 tackles for loss, and five sacks. He forced a pair of fumbles, deflected four passes, blocked two kicks (one punt and one field goal) and was credited with nine quarterback hurries.

Trail has been invited to participate in both the Reese’s Senior Bowl and the East-West Shrine Game, the nation’s two most acclaimed postseason college football all-star games. He will be the first Norfolk State Spartan to ever play in the Senior Bowl.

Lynden Trail is a finalist for the Buck Buchanan Award, given annually to the top defensive player in the FCS. Trail was eighth in the voting last season for the Buchanan Award in addition to winning the College Football Performance Award’s FCS Defensive Performer of the Year Award.
