2015 NFL Draft Bloodlines

NFL Draft Bloodlines | WR Breshad Perriman, UCFEach and every year there are players in the NFL Draft with relatives that are former or current NFL players but the 2015 Draft class appears to have more than its fair share of direct NFL bloodlines.

Whether it’s a sibling or a parent, the direct connection to the NFL Draft process and the intimate competitiveness that is instilled into that prospect in every facet of their lives makes an impact on their pro outlook and could be the edge or deciding factor between two equally rated prospects in a given war room debate.

The following are 20 of the more interesting NFL Draft Bloodlines due to the NFL legacy that these players represent.

(If there are other prospects with ties to the NFL that deserve a spot on this list, please let us know in the comment section below.)

  • RB Mike Davis, South Carolina – The underclassman has pro game and some NFL lineage in his family, as he is the younger brother of former Clemson running back and Cleveland Browns 6th round draft pick James Davis.
  • RB Karlos Williams, Florida State – The younger brother of Steelers linebacker Vince Williams, Karlos is a converted safety that runs with tremendous power and could develop into a short yardage back in the right offense.
  • RB Malcolm Agnew, Southern Illinois – Angew started his career off at Oregon State but transferred and went on to lead the Salukis in rushing the last two seasons. He is the son of eleven year NFL veteran Ray Agnew, who was a first round draft pick by the Patriots and currently works as a scout for the Rams.
  • WR Breshad Perriman, Central Florida – The son of former Miami Hurricanes and Detroit Lions receiver Brett Perriman, Breshad is a riser in the NFL Draft process that could hear his name called day one.
  • WR Tyler Lockett, Kansas State – The son of Kevin Lockett (2nd round draft pick of the Chiefs) and nephew of Aaron Lockett (7th round draft pick by the Buccaneers), all three of these guys played wide receiver at Kansas State but the youngest Wildcat now holds the career receiving record.
  • WR Dres Anderson, Utah – The son of former Dolphins great “Flipper” Anderson, Dres Anderson was one of the top rated seniors until a knee injury cost him his off-season but he had a solid pro day and remains one of the more underrated prospects in 2015.
  • WR Austin Hill, Arizona – The son of David Hill (NFL TE for 12 years) and nephew of NFL defensive back Jim Hill. Austin was a fast riser until a knee injury cost him his junior season but he remains a day three possibility.
  • WR DaVaris Daniels, Notre Dame – The son of former Redskins and Bears defensive end Phillip Daniels, DaVaris was ruled academically ineligible for last season and decided to declare for the draft instead of return to play out the remainder of his eligibility.
  • WR Josh Harper, Fresno State – Father (Willie Harper) played linebacker 11 seasons for the 49ers, his son has recorded back-to-back 1,000 yard receiving seasons his last two years at Fresno State.
  • WR Jake Kumerow, Wisconsin-Whitewater – Jake has led the Warhawks in receiving the last two seasons and he is the son of Eric Kumerow, a 1st-round pick of the Dolphins in 1988. His uncle, John Bosa, was also selected by the Dolphins in the first-round of the 1987 draft. Note: His cousin, Joey Bosa, is a junior All-American at Ohio State with the potential to be a Top-5 pick in next year’s draft.
  • TE Maxx Williams, Minnesota – Son of former Giants’ center and first round draft pick Brian Williams, Maxx is a borderline Day One pick and the consensus #1 ranked tight end in this draft class.
  • TE Corey Simmons, Northwestern State – Son of two time pro bowl selection Clyde Simmons, Corey is a draft gem that could surprise.
  • OT Andrus Peat, Stanford – The son of former NFL guard Todd Peat, Andrus is a lock for the first round with the tremendous size he has been gifted from the old gene pool.
  • DT Grady Jarrett, Clemson – Son of former pro-bowl NFL linebacker Jessie Tuggle, Grady Jarrett is also very close with NFL icon Ray Lewis, referring to him as “Uncle Ray”. Jarrett is a day two pick that has scheme versatility and a tremendous amount of upside.
  • DE Shane Ray, Missouri – His father, Wendell Ray, played at Missouri and was a fifth-round pick of the Vikings in 1981. Shane has an intense motor, a terrific first step and a great chance to be selected early in the first round.
  • DE Arik Armstead, Oregon – Armstead is the younger brother of Armond Armstead who played at USC, in the CFL and made the Patriots roster last season but retired recently at the age of 23.
  • LB Eric Kendricks, UCLA – The younger brother of Mychal Kendricks (Eagles 2nd round draft pick), Eric is an All-American and was the nation’s best linebacker (Butkus Award Winner) this last season.
  • LB Mike Hull, Penn State – Hull is a Penn State legacy and soon to be NFL legacy, as his father player linebacker for the Nittany Lions and for the 49ers and Packers.
  • S Alex Carter, Stanford – Son of Tom Carter Notre Dame/Redskins cornerback (9 NFL seasons), Alex has a chance to be a day two selection after declaring for the draft as a junior.
  • S Tevin McDonald, Eastern Washington – McDonald originally began his career closer to home at UCLA, as he is the son of former 49ers defensive back Tim McDonald. Also the brother of current Rams defensive back TJ McDonald(USC draft pick).
  • TE Nick O’Leary, Florida State – While not related to an NFL great, O’Leary is the grandson of the “Golden Bear” golfing legend Jack Nicklaus. I refuse to admit that this is not relevant in some way and also somehow impacted Florida State’s winning streak that spanned the past two seasons.
